Katya

“I love helping young people develop and progress as writers and thinkers.”

I’m Katya Nadine Johnson, a passionate, fully-qualified English teacher, writer and academic. I have over 10 years’ worth of teaching experience in secondary school and university settings.

As well as plenty of hands-on teaching, mentoring and tutoring experience, I also have a background in academic and commercial writing, editorial work and educational resource creation.

My own practice brings together teaching, creative writing and art history. It’s this curiosity — about words, ideas and people — that I bring to my work with learners.

I’d love to hear what you’re working towards

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

Good questions.
A good place to start.

Something else on your mind?
Just drop me a line

Who are your one-to-one lessons for?

I specialise in KS3, GCSE and A-level English, and can also support young people’s writing and literacy skills across age groups. If you’re looking for study mentoring or a different kind of writing support, get in touch and tell me what you need.

Can we work together online?

Yes. I offer online one-to-one teaching, as well as in-person lessons for learners living locally around Aberystwyth and Borth. We can discuss which arrangement works best when you get in touch.

What does getting started look like?

Send me a little about the learner, their year group and what they’d like support with. We’ll discuss their needs, lesson format, my current availability and fees before arranging any lessons.

Which GCSE or A-level course can you help with?

I have experience teaching English at GCSE and A-level, including curriculum development for the new English GCSE in Wales. Let me know your exam board, qualification and set texts so we can discuss the right support.

How do I access your teaching resources?

Follow a resource link to my TES shop to preview it, check the details and download or purchase it there. TES handles accounts and payments. There are free lessons to explore, as well as longer units of work.
